Banana pepper

Origin
Central and South America; popular in the USA.
Uses
Pickled in rings over sandwiches, burgers and pizza, where it adds tang and crunch. Also raw in salads or stuffed with cheese.
About this chile
It owes its name to its long, curved shape and banana-yellow colour. It is usually sweet and barely warm, but beware: it is easily mistaken for its Hungarian look-alike, the wax pepper, which looks identical and bites like a jalapeño. Most of what is sold comes already pickled.
